Eat More Calories Than You Burn:

Introduction

Having a high BMI (body mass index) does not automatically mean you’re overfat, and/or unhealthy. Similarly, being told to lose weight, and/or the accomplishment of a targeted weight loss number, does not equal a reduction in your body fat percentage. “While BMI is a reasonable general indicator of body fat (made up mostly of triacyclglycerols) and WHO defines overweight and obese as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation for both adults and children  it does not measure body fat directly”. Some Definitions

Overfat: “…Excess body fat that impairs health. The problem can occur in those who are overweight, obese, and include significant numbers of normal-weight non-obese individuals”. Source: (Revisiting the Global Overfat Pandemic. Maffetone & Laursen; 2020)   Weight Loss: “…A decrease in body weight by either following a diet and exercise regime or because of involuntarily circumstances such as illness. Body weight is determined by the amount of energy that is consumed as food and the amount of energy expended during daily activities”. Source: TopDoctors UK; Retrieved February 6, 2023

Additional Considerations

you must understand that body mass change (increase/decrease) is heavily a factor of energy In vs energy out. Additionally, what many don’t also grasp, is that body fat loss In the right areas (such as midsection, back, arms, inner thighs), is dependent also on hormonal, and your energy substrate metabolism capacity (fat, muscle, carb, alcohol…); coupled with your rest, stress (external environment sources) management, and dietary structure (timing, combinations, frequency), only to name a few.
Attaining and sustaining the balance of these & non-mentioned elements are what contribute to making the desired physical changes, so difficult.
