Overview of OMAD Diet: My Experience
Eating one meal a day: for many, myself included, this would’ve been, or is, an experienced dietary practice. For me, this diet was dominant during my time of not having enough money to afford eating more than 1 meal per day, such as in my latter 1st degree years-early entrepreneurial days. This diet for me was also dominant during my times of physical-mental training for military enrollment & martial arts. This diet did result in me losing weight. On one occasion when I was on this diet for 3 consecutive months, I dropped in weight from 205lbs-175lbs. Even though i was functionally-well (physical-fitness wise), I was very irritable.OMAD Diet: Common Forms Based on our Observations & Working Experience of Professionals, Students & Seniors
Through our working with hundreds-thousands professionals in Healthcare, Private Security, Military, Law Enforcement, Academia, Finance; Tertiary Students; and Seniors, throughout my years, the OMAD Diet is commonly practiced. The common forms this diet is practiced include:- Skipping Breakfast.
- Eating Lunch only.
- Multivariate timing of breakfast or lunch consumption.
Weight Loss Can Be Achieved Through OMAD Diet & So Can Your Performance Loss
If your desire is to lose weight, the OMAD Diet/ Time Restricted Eating (TRE) can achieve this very well, through calorie restriction. Read: Calories. However, if you desire optimum academic performance, and professional performance that have a joint physically-demanding & mentally-demanding component; and weight loss, the OMAD Diet is not sustainably suitable-especially for seniors. The OMAD Diet through it’s predominantly fasting characteristic, force our bodies to make glucose through glycolysis, gluconeogenisis and ketogenesis. *Glycolysis-our body making glucose available through glycogen breakdown. *Gluconeogenisis-our body making glucose available through the breakdown of alternative sources of glucose, such as protein-rich tissue (muscle) & lactate. *Ketogenesis-our body making glucose available through the breakdown of ketone bodies such as alcohol & adipose (fat). If your desire is overall weight loss, then generally, yes. If you have special dietary needs; or physical demands; or medical conditions; or received specific medical advice; or reach senior age bracket, tread cautiously with this diet.
